Zuffa boxing is making big moves ahead of its looming debut, as the upstart boxing promotion has landed its biggest acquisitions after it was revealed that Jai Opetaia has signed on to be promoted by Dana
White and co. moving forward.
Opetaia is the current IBF and The Ring cruiserweight title holder and is undefeated at 29-0 with 23 knockouts. The Australian born slugger has won his last four bouts via knockout, with his most recent win coming against Huseyin Cinkara in December 2025.
Opetaia is just 30 years of age and is one of the best fighters in the division who will be a very interested observer when David Benavidez moves up to face Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez, the current WBA (Super) and WBO cruiserweight titles, on May 2. The winner of that bout could very well be next for Opetaia, who is now Zuffa boxings biggest signing to date.
The promotion is ready to kick things off with its first event on Friday Jan. 23 inside UFC Apex Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, which will be headlined by Zuffa’s first-ever signing in the form of rising sensation, Callum Walsh, the current WBC Continental Americas super welterweight champion who is undefeated at 15-0. He will face Carlos Ocampo (37-3) live on Paramount+.
The promotion already has its second event lined up, which will be going down on Sat. Feb. 14 and will be headlined by IBF Heavyweight champion, Charles Martin, taking on Efe Ajagba, also in “Sin City.”
