The Dallas Mavericks (1-2) host the Oklahoma City Thunder (3-0) tonight at 7:30 PM at the American Airlines Center. Can the Mavs balance their record at 2-2 or will the defending champs remain undefeated?
Dallas notched its first win with a 139-129 victory over the Toronto Raptors. In what should be an early-season measuring stick game, the Mavericks get a chance to prove that their superior front-court size can translate to an advantage over the Thunder. It is worth mentioning that Jalen Williams has been ruled out for OKC and Chet Holmgren is listed as questionable.
Is this a letdown spot for the Thunder? Will the Mavs show enough offensive cohesion to matter against one of the best defensive teams in the league? Let’s scan the lines and do our level best to find some value.

The Mavericks’ outburst of 139 points against Toronto is not enough to convince me that their offensive flow will continue into this contest. Expect fewer easy looks in transition, more half-court grinding possessions ending in turnovers and tough shots. This expectation leads me to the notion that the Thunder can create and maintain a second-half lead and cause Kidd to empty his bench with 4 minutes to go.
Player Props
Dereck Lively II over 12 Points plus Rebounds (-121)
Chet Holmgren over 17.5 Points (-121)
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander over 1.5 steals (+113)
Lively’s minutes are on the rise through the first three games. 10, 19, and now 21 versus Toronto. Barring foul issues in the first half we should see over 20 minutes again.
Holmgren benefits from the absence of Jalen Williams, and those extra looks will inflate the points total.
SGA has hit 2 steals in two of the first three games of the young season. With the Mavs having turnover issues and often playing without someone halfway resembling a point guard, expect pockets to be picked.
