Seattle Seahawks reserve offensive lineman Josh Jones has addressed his health status, and it should be good news for next month’s training camp.
Jones, who re-signed with Seattle on a $4 million contract for the 2026 season, did not participate in OTAs and mandatory minicamp drills. This felt extra notable when head coach Mike Macdonald said that Jones “needs to become ready to practice” and that it’s “his responsibility” to do so. No mention of an injury or anything of the sort, which could naturally
lead to some speculation of something deeper.
In an interview with NFL insider and Houston Texans reporter Aaron Wilson, Jones said he’s been recovering from a knee injury.
Having won it all, Jones is eager to do it all over again.
This year, we’re running it forward,” Jones said. “We can’t dwell on what we did last year. You got to put that to bed. It was a great time. It was a great experience, but now the work has to keep going.”
Jones has recovered from a knee injury and expects to be ready for training camp.
“I head back to Monday to Seattle, get back to work, grind, get ready for camp, super excited for it,” Jones said. “I think I’ll be full-go at the start of camp. We’ll see how we work into it.”

The Seahawks added veteran tackle Bobby Hart to the roster during Jones’ absence, with Macdonald saying that, “Josh needs to practice to compete with Bobby.”
While filling in for the injured Charles Cross toward the end of Seattle’s Super Bowl winning season, Jones battled through ankle and knee injuries, which led to him missing the Divisional Round romp over the San Francisco 49ers. He was off the injury report for the Super Bowl and played three snaps late in the fourth quarter. It’s reasonable to assume the knee injury Jones is referencing is from the end of last season.
Beyond Jones’ health, he held a youth football camp at Houston’s George Bush High School, which is not only Jones’ alma mater, but also former Seahawks left tackle Russell Okung. Jones was joined by former Seahawks draft pick Mike Tyson as part of the camp.
“I’m just so super excited to be back at my alma mater and giving back to my community that helped me get to where I am,” Jones told KPRC 2. “Just giving back to the community, helping them learn skills. Being able to bring a Super Bowl champion back here, it’s just a blessing.”
It’ll be great to see Jones back on the practice field sooner rather than later.
