The Cincinnati Bengals are sitting at 4-2 to start the season after an electric win over the Baltimore Ravens this past weekend, 35-13.
Despite the good start to the 2026 season, the Bengals still have plenty of needs to help solidify the roster before the trade deadline.
The Bengals could still use another corner, safety, linebacker, running back, and now tight end with season-ending injuries to Erick All Jr. and Tanner Hudson.
Fans have seen the Bengals in rumors for guys like Zach Baun and Johnathan
Taylor, but there have been zero legitimate reports suggesting this will actually happen so far.
Joe Burrow was asked about the trade deadline rumors during his weekly press conference with local media, and he shared his thoughts regarding them.
“Number one, I feel really good about our team and the guys we have in there,” Burrow said. “Number two, I think every GM in football is probably exploring all options at this point, and very few ever end up materializing. But that’s something that I think all those guys think about critically, and whether it ends up happening or not, who knows.
“But I feel really good about the team we have in there.”
Burrow was then asked about the rarity of the Bengals front office making trades, and of course, Dexter Lawrence was brought up.
“I don’t think there’s very often that a player like Dex becomes available. And then for one first-round pick in a high-need position for us…I think all those things together kind of created the perfect storm of a situation for us to involve ourselves.
“And yeah, obviously it’s worked out great for us, and we couldn’t be happier with it,” Burrow stated.
It will be fun to see what shakes out before the deadline, but it is clear the team is confident in the guys they have in the building right now.
