Dutch forward Sophie Proost has completed her move to Bayern Munich from FC Twente, as announced by the club.
The 19-year-old had her breakout campaign in the Eredivisie last season, starting 18 matches for Twente between the Eredivisie and UWCL, and notching three goals plus five assists.
Comments from player and officials was captured via FCBayern.com:
“I’m very happy I’ve signed for FC Bayern,” Proost said. “It’s a special honour that a club of this stature has placed its trust in me and gives me this chance.
It was an incredible moment when I heard about FC Bayern’s interest. Everything felt right from the start, so I knew immediately I wanted to come here.
“As a player, I see myself as very technically skilled, explosive and fast: I always want to attack, score goals and work hard for the team, support my teammates and improve every day. I’ll play with international top players here, I can learn an incredible lot from them. Together with the team, I want to keep improving and win as many titles as possible in the next few years.”
Added Bayern Frauen sporting director Bianca Rech: “We’re delighted Sophie Proost has decided to join FC Bayern. She’s a very interesting young player who poses a huge goal threat on the wings. We’re absolutely convinced of her potential and certain she’ll take the next step in her development here in the upcoming years. She has impressively demonstrated her skills in the Eredivisie and UEFA Women’s Champions League. Sophie brings great quality to the attack, she’s versatile and fits perfectly with our style of play. We’re looking forward to the upcoming years with her in Munich.”
Proost’s contract will run through 2029. She will wear #23 for the FC Bayern Frauen.
