Jiri Prochazka and Carlos Ulberg are ready to bring order to the light heavyweight division.
The top contenders are set to collide in Saturday’s UFC 327 main event in Miami with a vacant 205-pound belt on the line, and the bout became official Friday morning as both men successfully made weight, with Prochazka coming in at 203 pounds and Ulberg at 204.
Incumbent champion Alex Pereira was in his second reign with the light heavyweight title when he relinquished it ahead of a move up to the heavyweight division.
He fights Ciryl Gane for an interim title in the co-main event of UFC White House on June 14.
UFC 327 was meant to have two title fights, but the flyweight championship co-main event between Joshua Van and Tatsuro Taira has been pushed back to UFC 328 in Newark, N.J., due to a minor injury on Van’s side.
Saturday’s new co-main event features undefeated light heavyweight Azamat Murzakanov and one-time middleweight title challenger Paulo Costa, who both hit the mark at 205 pounds.
The first hour of the official weigh-in window saw one fighter come in heavy, lightweight Chris Padilla. “Taco” showed up on stage with about 15 minutes remaining in the window and came in at 156 pounds, two over the limit for a non-title fight (including a one-pound allowance). He was cleared to attempt a second weigh-in, so his final weight is still to be registered.
Also of note, featherweight veteran Cub Swanson successfully made weight (146) for what is expected to be the final fight of his storied career. He opens Saturday’s main card against Nate Landwehr (145)
