After the way it all went (sicknesses, injuries, lack of opportunities, broken promises) and how it ended (getting unceremoniously dumped), it would stand to reason that Fiete Arp might harbor some ill
will toward Bayern Munich.
After all, since leaving Bavaria, Arp’s career has been a wild ride without much lasting success.
However, Arp is not bitter toward Bayern Munich, but recalls his treatment at the club fondly.
“I have to say that while I was there, Bayern didn’t even make any public statements that gave me the impression they were trying to pull a fast one on me or anything like that,” Arp told the Copa TS podcast (as captured by @iMiaSanMia_GER). “I have to say that the way they talk to you, with such confidence and pleasant charisma, is absolutely impressive and reflects that in some way. Even without a specific anecdote, I haven’t had any other experiences there.
“It was always very respectful and collaborative. I also believe that at the time, everyone was actually interested in making it work somehow… It was the worst-case scenario for everyone involved.”
The shame of it for Arp is that things could have turned out different in both 2019/20 and 2020/21 if he would have made the first team out of camp. Niko Kovač’s decision in 2019 and Hansi Flick’s call in 2020 to send the attacker to FC Bayern II after a strong training camp had lasting effects on the former Hamburg striker, who also encountered some bad luck with his health along the way.
The pain of all that is over now, and it seems like Arp has moved on from it all with good feelings.
