For the first time in almost exactly two years, a Chelsea player has been named the Premier League’s Player of the Month, with João Pedro collecting his award for August today. JP beat out five others for the honor, including teammate Cole Palmer, who was incidentally that last Blue to win it, back in September of 2024.
Along with new signing Morgan Rogers, the trio have gotten off to a tremendous start this season, scoring in bunches to lead the Blues to wins over Fulham and Brighton in the league,
as well as Lincoln Town and Leeds United in the League Cup. Chelsea have scored 16 goals in our five games across all competitions so far this season, with the three of them accounting for half the goals (8) and more than half the available assists (also 8).
João Pedro, who became our first 20-goal striker since Diego Costa last season, has been on fire since preseason, taking advantage of his unexpected time off this summer after getting snubbed for Brazil’s World Cup squad by manager Carlo Ancelotti. Ancelotti has rectified that mistake by calling up him for this month’s internationals.
