There may be no sporting event I love more than the Winter Olympics. Yes, probably even more than the World Cup.
The Summer Olympics are great, too, but I absolutely adore the Winter games: from the basics like (alpine and nordic) skiing and (NHL returns!) hockey (even as Slovakia ran out of luck and talent in the end), to the always dramatic skating events (figure or otherwise), to the absolutely ridiculous things involving either high-speed or high-air … or both. And then there’s the greatest winter
sport of them all, biathlon. And the other greatest winter sport of them all, curling.
They’re all great, let’s be honest.
I got to go to the Vancouver games in 2010 and will be going to SLC in eight years for sure. (And LA in a couple years.)
The Milan-Cortina games ended this weekend. Always a sad time.
The one good about the games ending is that we get the games-ending montages! I’m an absolute sucker for a good montage. The BBC always deliver, as do NBC with the now traditional Titans Spirit as the soundtrack. I’m sure others do as well.

NBC’s Mike Tirico also had this lovely video essay as part of their final day coverage, which I thought was excellent.
