There’s a universe where Aaron Judge’s epic swing on Tuesday night led to a stirring comeback, one that took the Yankees through three straight wins against the Blue Jays and into the ALCS. This is not
that universe. After pulling out a minor miracle in Game 3, the Yankees just didn’t have enough in Game 4, getting outplayed in every phase of the game by Toronto in a 5-2 defeat. Their season, after so many highs and lows, so much frustration and exhilaration all at once, is over.
It’s a song we’re used to hearing at this point, a promising campaign denied again at the end. We’ll of course have plenty of analysis of the final game, the final series, and the season as a whole in the coming days and weeks. As always, thanks to all of you for joining us for another Yankees season. We hope you’ll stick around as we prepare to brave another long winter.
Today, we’ll have post mortems from last night’s game, a dispiriting loss almost from the first pitch. And if you want distractions from what’s happened in Yankee Land, Peter will run down the rest of Wednesday’s playoff action, and Nolan will look at top prospect Bryce Cunningham’s debut in the Arizona Fall League.

Questions/Prompts:
1. Leaving aside last year’s World Series, where does this ALDS loss rank among the other series disappointments from the Aaron Judge era?
2. Will you bring yourself to watch playoff baseball today, or will you step away with the end of the Yankees’ season still so fresh?
