Well, that didn’t last long.
After one week appearing at No. 21 in the CFP rankings, Illinois is already back out after a disappointing 27-10 loss at Wisconsin on Saturday.
The new rankings came out Tuesday
night. The top of the rankings remained unchanged with Ohio State, Indiana, Texas A&M, Georgia and Texas Tech still leading the pack.
Again, I don’t think anyone can be shocked or upset at the Illini no longer appearing as their record this season fell to 7-4 (4-4 Big Ten). For a season that started with hopes of 10 wins and a possible CFP berth, it’s been quite the fall to hoping Illinois can pick up an eighth win against Northwestern on Saturday (6:30 p.m. on Fox).
FanDuel Sportsbook no longer has odds available for Illinois to make the CFP or national championship, which is a good choice, because there’s no realistic way for them to make the playoff at this point.
FanDuel still has Illinois favored to beat the Wildcats on Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.
