Tonight’s (Nov. 4) episode of AEW Dynamite kicked off with the women’s Blood & Guts match. This is AEW’s version of War Games pitting Wrathlander, Willow Nightingale, Queen Aminata, and Brawling Birds vs. Persephone, Divine Dominion, and Triangle of Madness. You’ll be surprised to hear that the heel team once again won the coin flip to determine which team has the one person advantage between periods.
The match began with Kris Statlander bringing a garbage can of weapons inside the cage to battle
it out with Megan Bayne and her steel chairs for a three minute period. Bayne was first to spill blood on the ring mat as Persephone joined the fray with Britt Baker’s briefcase to target Stat’s mouth with pliers.
Aminata was out next and brought in her TBS title wrapped in barbed wire to use as a weapon. Skye Blue’s music soon hit, and Statlander escaped the cage to run at her on the entrance ramp. However, Blue dodged Statlander and busted a fluorescent light tube over her head.
Nightingale joined the war next with her backpack, which was loaded with LEGOs “toy bricks” and glass. A bloody Willow blasted a bloody Blue with a spinebuster into the dangerous shards scattered across the mat.
Thekla came out next with her own trash can. She got whipped by Aminata’s leather belt before returning the favor. Alex Windsor was next and brought a two-by-four covered in barbed wire to carve some blood and guts out of Skye outside the double ring.
Tkekla tried to shoot a spider web to capture Windsor, but it was botched.
Lena Kross shrugged off kendo stick shots after suplexing her opponents. She laid out the babyfaces with more power moves. Bayne had lost a ridiculous amount of blood at this point but got back in the mix to join her partner Kross in throwing Windsor into the cage.
Harley Cameron joined the match and rallied the babyfaces with a diving splash on Divine Dominion. She duped Kross with a small ukulele before blasting her over the head with a guitar.
Julia Hart was the last heel to join the match, with some kind of sharp weapon in her hand to spike the heads of her opponents. Jamie Hayter was the 12th and final wrestler to enter the war, which is when the match beyond officially began. It can only end in submission or surrender.
Hayter smashed bottles over her opponents’ heads and helped Windsor beat the shit out of Thekla, who was trapped inside a garbage can. But the heels landed a major blow when Statlander was powerbombed into the cage and fell into a dangerous gap.
The heels tried to choke Stat and Harley into surrender, but the rest of the babyface team broke it up. Willow and Stat then set up two tables covered in barbed wire and reveled at Bayne’s extreme blood loss.
Meanwhile, Persephone climbed up the cage and splashed Aminata through a different table.
Bayne and Kross were both powerbombed onto the barbed wire tables after that. However, Jamie Hayter and Statlander had a miscommunication moments later and argued about it with each other. Even so, the babyface squad was able to get back on the same page.
Harley had a furious flurry of offense and locked Hart in a submission hold while Stat simultaneously attacked her mouth with barbed wire. That was painful enough for Julia to tap out and end the match. Just like that, Team Nightingale won the women’s Blood & Guts match.
The AEW commentators noted the the medical team was going to be very busy after the match, as well as the ring clean up crew.
What did you think of the ultra hardcore violence on display in the women’s Blood & Guts match, as well as Megan Bayne losing so much blood for the better part of an hour? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
