The party is still going for New York Knicks fans after their team won it first NBA title since the 1970s on Saturday night, and it’ll probably continue throughout the summer.
On Monday (June 15), it took the team’s coach Mike Brown, star big-man Karl Anthony-Towns, and already-legendary point guard and Finals MVP Jalen Brunson to The Tonight Show, hosted by longtime Knicks fan Jimmy Fallon.
While I don’t know if I’d call him a WWE fan the way Brunson is, Fallon is no stranger to the company or pro
wrestling. In his current gig, the giggly former SNL star has hosted many WWE stars, and taken part in more than a few bits with them. That meant Jimmy had one of his talk-show-host-placards ready with a picture of Danhausen.
Fallon botches the facts a bit — he says the Knicks went undefeated after Danhausen uncursed them when they actually lost one in their first Finals game at home, last Monday (June 7) in Madison Square Garden with the Very Nice, Very Evil WWE star and WWE Hall of Famer Donald Trump in attendance. But he got to the heart of the matter by asking Brunson if Danhausen’s uncursing had “something to do with” the Knicks going from a group of other teams’ castoffs into a nigh-unstoppable playoff juggernaut.
“At first, I was a little skeptical,” Brunson answered, “but, I mean, you have to believe it now. You have to believe it now.”
You know who agrees with that? Especially since it likely means more human monies for curses and uncursings and whatnot…
MSG’s gonna need a new roof when the Danhausen/Brunson tag team debuts at Saturday Night’s Main Event in July…
