With Kentucky Basketball finalizing its 2026-27 roster following the addition of Mark Mitchell on Saturday, the Wildcats can now fully turn their attention toward the 2027 recruiting class while also getting an early start on the class of 2028.
5-star power forward Benjamin Berrouet will take an official visit to Kentucky from Friday, Oct. 9, through Sunday, Oct. 11, his father tells A Sea of Blue.
Berrouet stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 240 pounds while playing for Dynamic Prep in Irving, Texas. According
to 247 Sports Composite, Berrouet is ranked No. 13 nationally, No. 2 among power forwards, and No. 3 in the state of Texas in the 2028 class. He’s ranked as high as No. 5 in his class by ESPN.
The highly regarded forward already holds nearly 35 offers, including programs such as Houston, Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisville, and others.
Kentucky first offered Berrouet on July 7, and less than three months later, he has now scheduled an official visit to Lexington.
While it is still extremely early in his recruitment, it will be interesting to see whether Kentucky can eventually beat out the numerous programs from Berrouet’s home state of Texas.
As for Berrouet’s visit, there is currently no announced Kentucky event taking place during that weekend.
The weekend before his visit will feature Big Blue Madness, while Kentucky is scheduled to face Little Rock in an exhibition game the following weekend.
However, that could change.
There have been multiple reports that Kentucky is expected to have a third exhibition game that has yet to be announced. If that game is scheduled during Berrouet’s visit, it could give Pope and his staff another opportunity to showcase the program.
Kentucky Football will also be at home that weekend, facing Lane Kiffin and LSU inside Kroger Field. Given the history between the two programs, that should provide another major event happening on campus while Berrouet is in Lexington.
Keeneland will also be going, which could provide another opportunity for Pope to spend time with Berrouet and his family. Pope has previously taken recruits and players to Keeneland, including Amari Williams and Lamar Wilkerson.
For now, it is too early to determine where Berrouet will begin his collegiate career.
However, getting an official visit from a player ranked among the top 15 nationally in the 2028 class is another positive step for Pope and Kentucky.
The Wildcats are getting a head start on Berrouet’s recruitment, and with plenty of time remaining before he makes a college decision, Kentucky will have an opportunity to make a strong impression on one of the nation’s top young forwards.
