The Pittsburgh Steelers held their breath as an organization in Thursday’s preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers. First-round pick Derrick Harmon suffered a knee injury that required him to be carted to the locker room from the sideline, which led many to fear the worst. However, a serious catastrophe was avoided.
Mike Tomlin revealed after the game that Harmon had a knee sprain. NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported on Friday that it is a sprained MCL for Harmon and that he could miss roughly
a month. Instead, it looks like Pittsburgh could have him back on the field sooner than that.
Per Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers expect Harmon to miss just one game.
“[The] Steelers have no intention of putting Harmon on IR and think it’s possible he will miss only one game,” Dulac reports on X.
The Steelers will take on the Jets two weeks from Sunday. Their home opener will be in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks.
