Blake Mitchell was a standout at the Fall Stars Game Sunday.
Blake Mitchell, C, Royals (No. 2/MLB No. 62) Though he’s one of the best catching prospects in baseball, Mitchell has scuffled through much of the Fall
League’s regular season. He shook off those struggles to lash a 104-mph double — the game’s lone extra-base hit — off a 95-mph slider by Dallas in the second and came around to score the game’s first run. He also walked and scored in the fourth.
Royals game times for 2026 were announced, and Jaylon Thompson writes the World Cup could impact start times.
The Royals on Monday announced game times for their home games next season and said in a news release “two home series will be impacted by the World Cup at the Truman Sports Complex.”
The first is when the Cardinals will be at Kauffman Stadium. Instead of a traditional Friday to Sunday three-game series, the teams will play on Thursday, June 18 (6:40 p.m.), and Friday, June 19 (7:10 p.m.).
A group stage World Cup game will be held at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on June 20, so the Royals and Cardinals won’t play that day. The series will finish on Sunday, June 21, at 1:10 p.m.
John Sherman answers questions about the ballpark search as he introduces a new president of business operations.
“We were kind of focused on one or at least a smaller area, but I think it’s the same. It’s really about the fan experience and kind of creating around a ballpark the energy and vibrancy, not just on the 81 nights a year but generating economic activity 365.”
There was no timetable given Monday about when the team plans to announce where they’ll be playing games in 2031. The team’s lease at Kauffman ends in January of that year.
