Sean Strickland has been up to his petty sparring ways and this time it involved a well-known professional comedian.
Earlier this week, comedian Preacher Lawson put out a standup bit in which he talks about the time he sparred Strickland, who is UFC’s former middleweight champion. Of course, Lawson made some funny and clever jokes along the way, but the punchline was still him getting knocked out by Strickland.
Lawson said he came to the gym with the intent to spar with some amateur boxers as he has
some standup experience. The comedian quickly noticed a collection of UFC fighters in the gym, which included Strickland. Of course, Strickland had to make a smart comment about Lawson’s vegan shirt, which was part of the standup routine.
Eventually, the two men crossed paths inside of the ring and Lawson found himself going toe-to-toe with the former UFC champion. The comedian joked that he was able to bob and weave just a little bit before Strickland connected with a punch to the side of the head and knocked him out. Lawson claimed he went flying across the ring.
Check it out below along with Strickland’s recent response on social media:
“Couple things,” wrote Strickland. “1. You’re big and black, I just assumed you were a badass boxer. 2. You kept putting your head down and the only shot was behind your ear which was clean. But I was right about one thing!!! You are big and black.”
Lawson caught wind of Strickland’s response and shed some more light on the one-sided sparring session. See below:
“You did say that you hit me behind the ear, which is legal. That’s true,” said Lawson. “You did not hit me in the back of the head. I made it up. I made it up because I thought it would be funny and I didn’t think you’d see it.”
