The Portland Trail Blazers soon will embark upon a new season, carrying high hopes and a revamped lineup. As summer moves quell and October looms, we’re starting to look at the roster with an interested and critical eye.
As part of that process we’re asking a series of questions about the integrity of the rotation. A few days ago we questioned you about the center corps of Donovan Clingan, Yang Hansen, Robert Williams III, and Duop Reath. The consensus seemed to be that the answer is unknown, but
the group still needs help.
Today we’re going to ask the same question about Portland’s power forward rotation. Defining positions is always precarious in this new era of “positionless basketball”, but for our purposes we’re going to name the power forwards as Toumani Camara and Jerami Grant, with an occasional appearance by a converted small forward or two in small-ball lineups. (We’ll get to the other forwards next time.) Obviously the position is thin numerically when defined this way, but pound-for-pound it may have the most talent of any.
So, on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being “nobody suits at all at the position; it needs a complete rework” and 10 being “as set as you could imagine, literally stacked to the moon”, how would you rate the Blazers at the four slot?
Share your rating and the reasoning in the comment section. If possible, tell us what Portland needs to become more solid and/or stacked at the position. Also share whether you think they’re better or worse provisioned now than they were at this time last year. Enjoy!
