For the first time in 30 years, Texas A&M is ranked as a top three team. The Ags extended their season-opening win streak to seven on Saturday night, defeating Arkansas 45-42 in Fayetteville. And thanks
to Miami’s Friday night home loss to Louisville, the Aggies continue their steady climb in the rankings. A&M rose one spot to No. 3 in both the USA Today Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25 as we enter Week 9. It marks the first time that A&M has been ranked in the top three since 1995, and they are 7-0 for the first time since 1994.
Now, the real tests begin. A&M now heads to Death Valley to face No. XX LSU, a place they haven’t won in since…. you guessed it… 1994. Even with the Tigers sitting at 5-2 coming off a road loss to Vanderbilt, this will be a major gut check for the Aggies. Lose this one, and you still have everything to play for, but win it, and it feels like a real statement that this team is for real, and the Aggies’ first College Football Playoff berth begins to move from possibility more toward certainty.
The game in Baton Rouge kicks off at 6:30 p.m. and airs on ABC.
