From a life scheduling point of view, the Wednesday to Saturday turnaround between the Champions League and Serie A can be a pain. However, while that minor inconvenience complicates things like running errands, little games, and the like, it may be a blessing in disguise for the Giallorossi. Following their midweek letdown against Real Madrid, Roma had no time to rest on their laurels, not with the race at the top of the table getting thicker by the week.
While today’s fixture against Genoa features
another emotional reunion between the tifosi and a recently deposed manager, club icon Daniele De Rossi, the Grifone aren’t exactly the Galacticos. But today’s fixture presents an entirely different challenge for Gian Piero Gasperini.
With five starters out injured or suspended, the depth Gasp bemoaned late in the week will be put to the test this evening at the Olimpico. But if the likes of Rodrigo Mora and Santiago Castro can carry the load, Roma could, depending on what happens with Inter and Lazio, move back to the top of the table.
The lineups are in, so let’s see if Roma can spoil De Rossi’s return!
