The Pittsburgh Steelers will begin their season in mere days against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. The NFL did its best to make Week 1 a huge game for the Steelers, and the Jets, for that matter, pitting each team’s quarterback against their former squads.
Aaron Rodgers isn’t playing into the narrative, though. When asked if there was any motivation for the season opener pertaining to the Jets, the Steelers quarterback says he’s just looking forward to playing.
“I’d just be excited for Week
1,” Rodgers said via Brooke Pryor of ESPN.
Jets quarterback Justin Fields had a similar mindset when he was asked about facing the Steelers earlier this week.
“There’s no storyline for me,” Fields said. “It’s ball for me, so I’ll let you guys kind of handle the storylines, the news lines and stuff like that. In the locker room, we just keep it straight ball.”
Regardless of how the quarterbacks present their feelings, the rest of the league will have this game circled during the 1:00 window and heavy attention will be paid to this game nationally.
