The Missouri Tigers found a way to beat their hated non-conference rival kansas Jayhawks in a 42-31 victory on Saturday afternoon at Faurot Field.
It may have been too close for comfort, but rivalry games aren’t meant to be easy. In the end, kU might end up being a quality non-con victory when it’s all said and done. After being down 21-6 in the early portion of the game, Eli Drinkwitz and his program had to battle through adversity in a must-win game. Eventually, they got it done, and our top three
players in our latest MV3 stepped up when it mattered the most.
Two St. Louis natives and the QB1 highlight our Week 2 MV3.
1. Kevin Coleman Jr.

Big time players make big time plays in rivalry games and that’s what Kevin Coleman Jr. had to do on Saturday. In his first statement game with the Tigers — Coleman 10 receptions for 126 yards and a touchdown. His lone TD reception came on a much-needed scoring drive to cut the Jayhawks lead to 21-13 with 10 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter.
His biggest play, however, was a 50-yard reception on a 2nd and 15 right before halftime. That helped Mizzou get in field goal range to tie the game and change the momentum.
Coleman established himself as Mizzou’s go-to wide receiver.
2. Jamal Roberts

Mizzou has been able to showcase their running back depth in the first two weeks of the season.
Ahmad Hardy was featured in last week’s MV3 — but Saturday was Jamal Roberts’ time to shine. On 13 carries, Roberts had 143 yards and a touchdown. His 63-yard TD run with under two minutes left in the 4th quarter gave Missouri a 42-31 lead to essentially put the game away.
3. Beau Pribula

Beau Pribula needed to be sharp in Mizzou’s first true test of the season — and it’s safe to say that he was delivering an impressive stat line.
30 for 39 with 334 passing yards with three touchdowns (zero interceptions) and a quarterback rating of 174.2? Yeah, that’ll play in a rivalry game.
In the first two games of the season, Beau Pribula has a 181.1 QBR — which currently ranks 19th in all of College Football.
It’s still incredibly early, but is Pribula a sleeper to be a Heisman candidate? Brendan Wiese of 550 KTRS makes a bold statement:
Honorable Mentions: Brett Norfleet, Daylan Carnell.
