Earlier this year, Turki Alalshikh vowed that all Riyadh Season and The Ring shows after Moses Itauma vs Dillian Whyte would be “free to DAZN subscribers,” starting with David Benavidez vs Anthony Yarde
on November 22nd. Turns out he just straight-up lied, as DAZN has officially listed the event as a $59.99 US/£24.99 UK PPV.
How_Sway was more on top of this than I.
City AM reports that DAZN will soon unveil a “premium” subscription tier that includes all PPVs, priced “at a level that’s very good value for customers.” DAZN’s Pete Oliver claims it will launch in November, but as of right now, the only way to order Benavidez vs Yarde is through a standard subscription and PPV.
One could argue that the new tier means Alalshikh didn’t technically lie, but as much as I’m on team “technically correct is the best kind of correct,” he doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt here. Whether he was sincere at one point and changed his mind after perusing some balance sheets or intended to deceive from the beginning, this is not what he promised.
