For a team that put such a focus on building an offensive line that would drive a power running game, the 2025 Green Bay Packers have done a poor job of actually running the football to this point. Through four games, the Packers are among the league leaders in rushing attempts, but they rank 27th out of 32 teams in yards per attempt.
Somehow, the team is still 10th in the NFL in rushing EPA per play, but much of that number is due to short-yardage successes, particularly near the goal line. Josh
Jacobs has been good there, with four scores in four games and three of them coming from 3 yards out or closer, and the team’s overall rushing success rate is also 10th. But the overall production just hasn’t been there on early downs.
There is good news coming, however. First is the potential return of two starting offensive linemen. Second is the matchup with the Bengals, who rank second-last in the NFL in yards per rush allowed and who have given up at least 118 yards on the ground in each of their last four games.
If ever there were a get-right game for the Packers coming out of a bye, it’s this Sunday.
QB Jordan Love sees more out there for Packers’ offense | Packers.com
There has been a lot to like about this offense so far — they’re the best in the league on third down right now. But there have still been a few back-breaking mistakes that they need to clean up, and those run game issues are frustrating.
Can return of Zach Tom and Aaron Banks ignite Josh Jacobs and sluggish Packers run game? | Packers Wire
Here’s the good news: both of these two starters on the line were back at practice on Wednesday, working on a limited basis as the team practiced in full pads. If they are ready to go on Sunday — truly ready — that should be a huge boost for the team’s ability to run the football.
Micah Parsons’ impact, Jordan Love’s hot start and more: 5 important Packers stats | The Athletic ($)
Parsons has the third-highest pressure rate in the NFL and the Packers as a whole rank fifth. However, the offensive line is also allowing a lot of pressure on Jordan Love, with Rasheed Walker struggling quite a bit and now set to face Trey Hendrickson this Sunday.
2025 NFL season: Ranking all eight divisions in NFC, AFC | ESPN
The NFC North still reigns supreme for now, with all four teams sitting at .500 or better. The Packers’ late-season schedule should be a brutal one with five division games in the last seven weeks.
Jaguars trading CB Tyson Campbell, seventh-round pick to Browns in exchange for CB Greg Newsome, sixth-round pick | NFL.com
This is a weird trade. Campbell just got a big contract extension from the Jaguars’ previous GM while Newsome is playing on a fifth-year option. Maybe Jacksonville just wanted out from that big deal.
