In today’s Dub Hub:
- Warriors training camp resumes following the conclusion of Jonathan Kuminga’s contract situation.
- De’Anthony Melton expected to miss the beginning of the season, according to ESPN’s Anthony Slater.
- Minnesota Lynx’s Napheesa Collier reads statement criticizing WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert.
Tuesday marked the first day of training camp for the Golden State Warriors. Head coach Steve Kerr and several players on the team emphasized the importance of camp as they work on building chemistry early in the season.
Day 2 is set to carry even more weight after the long-awaited resolution to the Jonathan Kuminga contract situation. On Tuesday, Kuminga and the Warriors agreed to a two-year, $48.5 million deal that
keeps him in Golden State for at least the first few months of the season.
His signing also cleared the way for the team to finalize deals with veteran additions Al Horford, De’Anthony Melton, and Seth Curry, several of whom are expected to begin practicing with the team on Wednesday.
With Kuminga signed and the roster seemingly complete, the focus now shifts to performance on the court. The new additions look like strong complements to the core of Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler, though questions still linger about their age and durability.
Even so, as long as Curry is healthy and leading the way, Golden State should remain firmly in title conversations.

Warriors, Jonathan Kuminga agree on 2-year, $48.5 million deal | ESPN
Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Kuminga’s side have been locked in a stalemate throughout the offseason over the framework of the contract, but Golden State ultimately increased its two-year offer by a total of $8 million between July and September and guaranteed Kuminga approximately $15 million more than his one-year, $8 million qualifying offer would have for this season.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr ‘very comfortable’ as he enters final year of his contract | The Athletic
“I’m very comfortable just going into the season with a year left,” Kerr said after the Warriors’ first practice of the season on Tuesday. “I’m so aligned with (general manager) Mike (Dunleavy) and (owner) Joe (Lacob) that we talked about this, there’s no reason for discussion, concern. This is kind of a point in our relationship where it’s just like “Let’s just see how it is at the end of the year.” And I love my job. I love what I’m doing every day, and can’t wait to get to the building.

Gravity: Quantifying the Invisible Impact
Gravity showcases what coaches and analysts have observed for years – how certain players create advantages for teammates simply by being on the court, even without touching the ball. This new stat measures the level of attention a player receives from the defense, including how closely they’re guarded with or without the ball, to quantify the amount of space they create for their teammates. This revolutionary system processes optical tracking data 60 times per second, using custom neural networks to analyze how defenders react to specific players, while factoring in real-time game context and historical data.

In case you missed it at Golden State of Mind:
Warriors will sign, waive, and re-sign Seth Curry
Marc Stein and Keith Smith tweeted some clarity on the issue, stating that the Warriors are signing Curry to an Exhibit 9 deal. Such a deal has no guaranteed money, so the Warriors can keep the 35-year old Duke product on the roster through training camp, where he can get up to speed with the offensive and defensive sets, and get familiar playing with his teammates. He’ll then be waived before the season begins, and the team can sign him to a fully-guaranteed, veteran’s minimum contract come mid-November, rounding out their roster.
