The Falcons are already making moves. After adding quarterback Cooper Rush yesterday, the team has cut ties with veteran defensive lineman Ross Blacklock and signed linebacker Josh Woods.
Woods is a familiar name in Atlanta, as he’s appeared in 17 games over the last two seasons with the Falcons. His role on defense is nonexistent, but he was counted upon as a key cog in Marquice Williams’ special teams groups, playing 82% of the special teams snaps over the 12 games he appeared in last season. He’ll
immediately push for a similar role this summer, with JD Bertrand and Channing Tindall looking like his competition for one of the last spots on the roster.
Expect to see several moves on the way in the coming weeks, as the Falcons sour on players they’re seeing live and go looking for better fits for depth roles. In the interim, give Woods a warm welcome as he returns.
