The German national team recently played against Finland and beat them 4-0 in Mainz…and beat them 1-0 in a test match intended to keep the bench players match fit. Lennart Karl is one of the players who played in the actual match and helped himself to an assist when he teed up Deniz Undav for Germany’s third goal. That assist meant he set a new record/milestone:
18Y 98D – At 18 years and 98 days old, Lennart Karl became the youngest player since records began in 2005 to directly contribute to a goal for the German national team with his assist on the 3-0 goal yesterday. Recommended.
Germany got themselves a more than capable replacement for Serge Gnabry who would’ve undoubtedly made the team had he not picked up a lengthy injury. For Karl, this is a massive tournament for him to make his bow and with him in the team, Die Mannschaft has a good chance of making serious progress in the tournament.
