The 2026 NFL Draft has come and gone, and the Miami Dolphins added 13 new players via the annual selection process in addition to a slew of undrafted free agents. However, a general manager’s work is never done, and ESPN predicts Jon-Eric Sullivan to add to Miami’s offensive tackle group.
Matt Bowen of ESPN released an article on Monday linking remaining free agents to their best team fits. He has former Detroit Lions offensive lineman Taylor Decker joining the Dolphins in what would be a very curious
move.
“Decker had an 89.3% pass block win rate in 2025 with Detroit, the second-lowest rate of his 10-year career. If he can prove to be healthy, however, he has the toughness and intangibles to win a starting role with most NFL teams.
In Miami, Decker would compete for the left tackle spot with third-year pro Patrick Paul. The Dolphins drafted former Alabama left tackle Kadyn Proctor last month, but he is expected to slot in at left guard in 2026.”
Miami already has a budding star in Patrick Paul at left tackle, plus a returning Austin Jackson at right tackle. The Dolphins also added Kadyn Proctor in the first round, and he has plenty of tackle experience — starting three seasons at the position for Alabama. Free agent signing Jamaree Sayler also has positional versatility and can play every position on an offensive line except for center.
Bowen’s prediction also excludes the fact that the Dolphins have a mere $1.8 million in cap space at the moment — although they will gain an additional $20 million after June 1st due to the post-June 1st cut of Bradley Chubb. Still, half of that money will go to signing the team’s draft class.
Decker to the Dolphins doesn’t make a ton of sense, so Bowen’s logic can be questioned here, but we will have to wait and see if Miami continues to add to their offensive line, or if they choose to spend their influx of cap elsewhere on the roster.
