After being shut out by the Guardians on Friday night, the White Sox look to even the series in Cleveland.
Davis Martin (6-9) will be on the mound tonight. His last two starts haven’t been great, but he thankfully had enough offense to remain unscathed. His ERA is a bit padded (4.03), with 92 strikeouts. Edgar Quero is behind the plate tonight, and the outfield has been shuffled around as Andrew Benintendi will DH.
Parker Messick will be on the mound
for Cleveland. Messick, now 2-0, had an electric MLB debut, striking out six and allowing just three hits in five innings against the Diamondbacks. He was promoted ahead of the August 20 game this season. As far as the lineup goes, there are no surprises, and Martin will likely be in an uphill battle against Cleveland’s power hitters.
