AAA general manager Rey Mysterio promised a big surprise that was a former WWE world champion, and he delivered Damian Priest.
Priest made his AAA debut on the latest episode airing Saturday night (July 4, 2026) taped from Merida, Mexico. Rey opened the show stating his goal to bring the biggest stars in the world to AAA. That’s when he introduced a man who represents lucha libre. That man is Priest. Speaking in Spanish to the crowd, Priest ran over the accomplishments of his career. He beat superstars
around the globe, but he’s never competed in AAA. Priest is here to dominate. He warned rudos and tecnicos alike that they will fall to him in the ring. To anyone with a championship, Priest will get to know them well. All rise!
Priest is a nice move to appear in AAA. I’m curious where he fits in the title picture. Singles champions are Dominik Mysterio with the AAA Mega Championship, Hijo del Vikingo with the AAA Latin American Championship, and Fenix with the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship. I don’t think Priest will cut off a leg to make weight for the cruiserweight division, so Fenix’s gold is safe. Wrestling Vikingo would make for a cool big man versus little man matchup. Not to mention the giant Omos keeping watch on the outside. Dirty Dom should have a showdown against El Grande Americano sooner than later, however, perhaps Priest jumps the line as a filler defense for Dominik.
Well, speaking of Dominik, Rey chatted with the media scrum to tease that both his son and Priest will be present next week on the live show from San Luis Potosi. That could be the hint for Priest chasing the Mega Championship.
