The Kentucky Wildcats will travel to the Plains to take on the Auburn Tigers on Saturday night.
Sitting at 2-5 overall and 0-5 in conference play, the Cats are steep underdogs against the 4-4 Tigers. Auburn is a 10.5-point favorite over the Cats even as they’ve struggled this season. Both head coaches look like lame ducks, and neither side has much to play for, but Hugh Freeze’s squad has looked a bit more competitive this season.
While Mark Stoops and Co. looked better against the Texas Longhorns
a couple of weeks ago, they looked hapless last weekend against the Tennessee Volunteers. Auburn remains one of the easier opponents on Kentucky’s schedule, but that still doesn’t inspire much confidence.
The lone bright spot is that we get to watch Cutter Boley. He’s been UK’s ace in the hole this season, especially over the last two games. Against the Vols, Boley completed 74% of his passes for 330 yards and five (!) touchdowns. He also added 31 yards on the ground.
A win isn’t entirely out of the question, as Auburn isn’t a juggernaut and they are starting their backup quarterback, but really, what you’re looking for is something to look forward to in the future. Those young talents include Boley, DJ, and Cam Miller, Jason Patterson, and Willie Rodriguez, among others.
With Stoops’ chair on fire, can he pick up one SEC win this season?
