Bayern Munich opened its account for the 2026/27 Bundesliga season with a 5-1 defeat of southern neighbors VfB Stuttgart. At the rate the Bavarians are going, they’re going to score 170 goals by the end of the season in May 2027. Vincent Kompany was asked if his team could beat the record for most goals in a Bundesliga season, set by none other than Bayern last season with 122, and he said it’s not at the forefront of his priorities.
“That’s totally unimportant for me right now,” Kompany said (as

It’s a cool bonus to score a lot of goals, but what does it matter if Bayern doesn’t have trophies to show for it? Kompany is right: a win is most important because it reflects the successful execution of his and the team’s plans to get the three points.
