Tonight we get the first set of college football playoff rankings, and one of the bigger storylines going into all of this is Notre Dame and its possible placement. The Irish are currently ranked #10 in both the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll, but there have been rumblings of the Irish being looked at differently for the playoff rankings. So — here’s my prediction for the the initial release by the committee (top 15):
1. Texas A&M Aggies 2. Ohio State Buckeyes 3. Indiana Hoosiers 4. Alabama Crimson
Tide 5. Georgia Bulldogs 6. Ole Miss Rebels 7. BYU Cougars 8. Oregon Ducks 9. Texas Tech Red Raiders 10. Virginia Cavaliers 11. Oklahoma Sooners 12. Notre Dame Fighting Irish 13. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 14. Texas Longhorns 15. Louisville Cardinals
In this scenario, the reflection (not projection) would be Notre Dame as the first team out as the highest ranked G5 school would slide up to the 12 seed. Right now that school is probably Memphis.
