After the disappointment of midweek, we’re going to need a lot better effort today against Bournemouth, if want to take all three points back with us to the Bridge.
Presumably, that will involve as much
of a first-choice starting lineup as possible given our busy fixture list, and it might even involve a start for Cole Palmer. Maresca remained cautious when asked about that idea yesterday, but for the WAGNH Community, there’s no doubt: Palmer must start.
The bigger question appears to be what to do in midfield, with Moisés Caicedo still suspended. Andrey Santos did not impress on Wednesday, but no one on the team did, in fairness, so perhaps he should get another chance. And since Reece James should be ready to play, perhaps he can help out as well.
That’s precisely the outcome of today’s voting, with all three of James, Santos, and Malo Gusto collecting more votes than João Pedro (56%), or any other center forward. Not by much, but by just enough. So how about this:
4-2-3-1 (87%)
Sánchez (97%) | Cucurella (86%), Chalobah (83%), Fofana (96%), Gusto (61%) | Santos (59%), James (61%) | Garnacho (71%), Enzo (91%), Palmer (81%) | Neto (88%)
Other than JP, Liam Delap (35%), Estêvão (28%), Josh Acheampong (24%), Marc Guiu (20%), and Jorrel Hato (12%) were the others to score in the double-digits.
