Next up in our series of focusing on incoming freshmen football players is tight end Joe Caudill. Caudill is Lexington, Ohio and is listed at 6’ 4” and 232 lbs. He’s rated as a four-star recruit and a top-300 (#235) player by Rivals. He’s ranked by Rivals as the 13th best tight end in the nation along with the 13th best player from the state of Ohio.
Joe didn’t come off the field in high school. He played quarterback where he completed 59% of his passes for 1,730 yards and 25 touchdowns to only six
interceptions. He also had 59.5 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and two interceptions as a defensive lineman. Joe led Lexington High School to its first OCC Championship since 2008 with a 9-2 record. Caudill was named the Ohio Cardinal Conference Defensive Player of the Year and the Northwest District Offensive Player of the Year.
Caudill is a pure athlete.
As he looks to fill the shoes of the newly signed Atlanta Falcons TE Jack Velling, there will be opportunity to make an impact early behind RS JR Brennan Parachek. With a lack of standout talent at the tight end position, Caudill may find himself on the field sooner rather than later.
We may need to wait a little longer to see how he looks at the TE position as opposed to the two he played in high school, but based on his build and athleticism, Caudill could be a great third-down and redzone threat in the middle of the field with time.
What say you, TOC? What’re your thoughts on incoming 4-star TE Joe Caudill?
Go Green.
