Happy Sunday, Sox fans. Today, the Chicago White Sox play one last game in Cleveland against the Guardians, as they look to avoid the sweep . It’s been an ugly couple of games for the South Siders against the Guards, as they have one run in the series so far. They look to salvage the game today, with Yoendrys Gómez and Slade Cecconi facing off on the mound.
Gómez is appearing in his 19th game of the season, with a 3-2 record and 5.05 ERA. In his first few games with the team in early August, Gómez was
solid, before slipping as of late. His outings have been short, as his last effort against the Tampa Bay Rays went five innings with four hits, one walk, and five strikeouts. He has six starts and 12 relief appearances on the year.
Cecconi is 6-6 with a 4.45 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. The righty had a stellar game last time out against the Kansas City Royals, going eight innings with one hit, three walks, and three strikeouts, grabbing the win. He is in his first year with the Guardians after starting his career with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Mike Tauchman leads it off, followed by Kyle Teel, Lenyn Sosa, and Colson Montgomery at cleanup. Miguel Vargas follows, as Andrew Benintendi and Will Robertson follow. Chase Meidroth and Dominic Fletcher close it out.
Game time is at 12:40 p.m. CT on CHSN, and you can listen on WGN 720 today.
