The Atlanta Braves are opening up a series at home against the Washington Nationals where they hope to get some momentum going before the trade deadline on August 3rd.
Grant Holmes will be facing Jake Irvin for the second time this season. In that game both pitchers performed well, but it was Irvin who came out on top with 5.0 innings of one hit ball. Irvin has not pitched since that game and may need to shake off some rust today.
The Braves and Nationals are both in the top three in runs scored this
month, so it looks to be a shootout, but that was said the last time these two pitchers faced off and that was not the case. Baseball can be funny sometimes. Here is to hoping the Braves’ offense can shake off their underwhelming performance against the Mets and start this series off with a bang.

First pitch is at 7:15 EDT.
