Luka Dončić sure is embracing his role as one of the team’s new leaders.
With the ink still fresh on his contract extension earlier this summer, Luka is proving to be a generous teammate. On Thursday, it was
reported by Dave McMenamin of ESPN that Luka had arranged a very unique gift for the rest of the Lakers in a trip to the Porsche Driving Experience.
A quick glance on their website shows that it’s north of $3000 per car for a 4-hour session at the venue in Los Angeles. Some quick number crunching of that rate for a team of players and coaches in a private session and that adds up to…way more money than I have.
However, Luka’s salary is just slightly higher than mine, too.
This begs the question of whether everyone can fit into a car? Jaxson Hayes and Deandre Ayton, for example, are very tall individuals. Do they have cars they’ll fit in? I’m not particularly familiar with Porsches, but they don’t seem catered for large adult humans.
Also, this leads to the question of who would be the worst driver on the Lakers? Does LeBron still drive himself around at all? Another easy guess is the younger players due to a lack of experience. On the flip side, I’m taking Luka as the fastest driving just because of his competitive nature not allowing to be anything but.
Is Marcus Smart a good defensive driver, too? Does Austin Reaves improve every lap he drives? Is Jarred Vanderbilt’s car constantly broken down? Ok that felt mean.
Can we get Carpool Karaoke, but with Lakers players, too? We need to hear them singing Backstreet Boys after this summer.
All these questions just lead to the same conclusion, which is that we need video of this experience to get the answers.
