Former UFC two-division champion, Conor McGregor, has been removed from the official UFC roster, according to the logs recorded by the UFC Roster Watch account on X.
“To everyone messaging me asking, ‘Is this true?’ Yes, according to the official roster, our API indicates that he has been removed,” the account posted in a follow-up tweet. “We are unaware of any negotiations between Conor and the UFC.”
McGregor returned to the UFC drug testing program just a few weeks back.
Fighters are often added and
removed for reasons not related to their status as contracted fighters and this does not automatically confirm that McGregor is no longer under contract with UFC; however, fans on social media speculated on the promotion’s new billion-dollar streaming deal with Paramount and CBS and how it might affect McGregor’s status.
Let’s face it, “Notorious” does not have the best public image.
Officials from UFC were not able to confirm McGregor’s status as of this writing but UFC CEO, Dana White, is likely to field questions on the future of the former champ at the UFC 319 press conference later tonight in Chicago. In addition, the 37 year-old McGregor — who has not competed in over four years — has yet to comment on today’s report.
Stay tuned.
