Brian Burns on Dexter Lawrence: New York Giants need to ‘figure it out’ | USAToday.com
Fellow captain Brian Burns, who is coming off his best professional season, understands how important Lawrence is to the team’s success.
“Business is business,” Burns told ESPN. “I’ve been through it. … How I feel technically is that we just need him in the building, regardless of whatever it is. Figure it out. Get it done. I don’t want to see somebody else in that 97 besides Dex. So that’s just my take on it.”

The truth about Giants’ alleged Dexter Lawrence trade talks | New York Post
At this point, the Giants are sticking to their stance that Dexter Lawrence is under contract for two more years, they want him to stay and they are not interested in giving him a new contract.
As far as reports that surfaced Wednesday that contact talks have ended and the Giants are actively involved in trade discussions with other teams, that is not entirely accurate.
Yes, talks have “broken down,” according to a source, and it is clear the two sides are not close to seeing eye-to-eye on Lawrence’s financial worth. No, the Giants are not actively engaged in trade talks and they feel no urgency whatsoever in moving on from their disgruntled 28-year-old nose tackle.
League sources weigh in on where things stand with Giants-Dexter Lawrence standoff | SNY.tv
The Giants’ stance is simple: They would like to reach an agreement that works for both sides and keep Lawrence in New York. When healthy, he is among the NFL’s best defensive linemen. They know their front is so ferocious in large part because of him. Defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson, shortly after getting the job, emphasized what his scheme can accomplish with Lawrence at the center.
Keywords: Works for both sides. Lawrence was a back-to-back Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro selection when he signed his extension. That is no longer the case. He landed on injured reserve in 2024 with an elbow injury. He reported to training camp last summer out of shape and never played himself into form. His performance declined significantly.
Giants, Dexter Lawrence talks have ‘broken off,’ sources tell Daily News | New York Daily News
The Giants and Dexter Lawrence are not an impasse. The situation is more dire than that. The contract negotiations between the team and Lawrence’s camp have “broken off,” sources tell the Daily News.
The Giants have spoken to teams about possible trades for Lawrence since he requested one publicly on April 6, and unsurprisingly, there is significant demand for the two-time, second-team All-Pro defensive tackle around the league. These developments make clear that it is a real possibility the Giants will trade Lawrence.
How Giants GM Joe Schoen embraces the weight of 2026 NFL Draft | The Record
There were nerves for Joe Schoen on that day the New York Giants introduced John Harbaugh as their head coach. We all felt it three months ago.
Now consider everything that Harbaugh represents for this franchise going forward, where things are as the offseason turns toward the 2026 NFL Draft and what the future holds beyond that, the only question we should have been asking back then continues to warrant the obvious response: How could he not?

Cornerback: New York Giants Both the Giants and their NFC East rival, the Washington Commanders, had big needs at cornerback this offseason. Both have addressed their needs to an extent. The Commanders signed Amik Robertson and Akhello Witherspoon in free agency, while the Giants opted for Paulson Adebo and Greg Newsome II.
The one-year deal for Newsome likely isn’t a long-term answer. The 25-year-old slowly began to find his footing late last season after being dealt to Jacksonville in October. However, just two grades above 62.0 over his 13 games with the Jaguars explains why he wasn’t retained. The Giants’ fifth overall pick in the draft is a little rich for Mansoor Delane to come into the equation, but some insiders are suggesting the first half of the draft could be littered with trade movement, so perhaps the Giants are fielding calls at least.
2026 NFL Mock Draft Predicting What Will Happen Instead of What Should Happen in Round 1| Bleacher Report
5. New York Giants. Will Happen: They draft LB Sonny Styles, Ohio State. The extremely athletic first-team All-American suits John Harbaugh’s approach and fills a need at the same time.
Should Happen: They trade down and take an interior offensive lineman. The Giants are trying to complete a rebuild but have just two picks in the first three rounds. They already added a veteran off-ball linebacker in Tremaine Edmunds this offseason, and they need to focus on the trenches anyway.
