Gervonta Davis’ latest domestic abuse allegations may cost him his Netflix’s boxing super fight against controversial super star Jake Paul.
Davis — who has a history of such allegations — is the defendant in a new civil lawsuit filed yesterday (Thurs., Oct. 30, 2025) in Miami-Dade County, accusing him of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Full details can be found here, but the quick summary is that Davis is accused of attacking
and abducting a cocktail waitress at a Miami strip club. The waitress claims the two were romantically involved and that Davis has abused her previously as well.
Davis is currently scheduled to square off versus Paul in a special 10-round exhibition boxing match on Netflix in just two weeks (Fri., Nov. 14, 2025). It would be a massive event, perhaps not as large as Paul’s gargantuan showcase versus Mike Tyson, but a payday large enough that Davis can easily fade away into retirement with a massive rainy day fund.
Instead, Davis is now at risk of losing the bout entirely. According to Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix, Netflix and Jake Paul’s team have been “exploring potential replacements” for Davis. That’s a tall task given the short-notice, but Mannix notes that the bout is now considered to be “in limbo.”
It’ll be really interesting to see whether Paul and Netflix are willing to overlook these allegations. There’s a lot of money on the line here, and they’re unlikely to find a replacement that would be nearly as high-profile — I wonder what Ryan Garcia is up to? — but it would be a bit of a stain on everyone involved to allow Davis to compete on such a major stage given the current circumstances.
Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
