Instead of announcing the next location for College GameDay on Saturday, ESPN took extra time to make their choice. With FSU losing on Friday night, and other teams playing well, winning games, and making
a feature for their matchup more enticing, it became clear the longer we went without an announcement, the less likely the iconic pregame show would feature Miami for a 2nd consecutive week.
On Sunday morning, ESPN confirmed what I had been theorizing and discussing on social media late into the night when they announced that instead of going to Tallahassee, College GameDay would instead be heading to Tuscaloosa.
This is disappointing, but understandable. FSU lost on the road to Virginia, and Alabama kept their dominance over Georgia going with yet-another win over the Bulldogs. Though both games — Miami vs FSU and Vanderbilt vs Alabama — feature an undefeated team going to a 1-loss team, ESPN made the choice to go to the game where the loss was earlier in the season, not this current weekend.
This is entirely FSU’s fault. Everything was set up for a top 5 matchup of undefeated Canes and Noles, and all the pageantry that goes along with it. But they lost to Virginia and that was that.
I had all these stats about Miami vs FSU on GameDay and all that stuff. But that’s in the trash now. Thanks for nothing, FSU.
Miami plays FSU at 7:30pm on Saturday night. The Game will be televised on ABC national TV.
