Ohio State’s recruiting heater has been almost unbelievable the past month. Picking up commitments in their 2026 and 2027 classes at a record pace, the Buckeyes have arguably never been hotter on the trail.
Flipping player after player in their favor, Ryan Day and his staff are likely to sign a near 30-member class in the current cycle. Looking back just a few short months ago, that never would have been the assumption.
A testament to how hard this staff has worked to keep themselves in the mix for several key targets, the hard work is paying off. All off the field news being positive for Ohio State, this weekend once again marks another home slate and a chance to host recruits for game day visits.
The final game in the Horseshoe this season, the Buckeyes will have their main objective to be honoring their seniors with a win over Rutgers, but also leaving a lasting impression on guys they have their sights on. Sure to be a memorable day, winning on and off the field continues to be the goal.
2029 OT prospect lands Ohio State offer
Several positions have seen the good fortune as of late, and that includes the offensive line. Adding players to both the 2026 and 2027 classes, Ohio State is crushing it where it matters most, and that’s in the trenches.
Always a position of major importance, the Buckeyes know it’s not only quality of players, but quantity as well in each cycle. Depth along the offensive line can make or break a recruiting class many times, and position coach Tyler Bowen looks poised to ensure they have several options to choose from.
On Wednesday, the Buckeyes offered class of 2029 offensive tackle, Landon Ghea (Alpharetta, Georgia/Milton). A 6-foot-5, 260 pound athlete, Ghea is just a high school freshman, but already has an offer list that shows the caliber of player he is.
Unranked via his 247Sports profile due to his class status, programs such as Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, and others being early offers go to show he’ll be among the top-ranked players once the 2029 rankings are made available.
Not wanting to waste any more time, the Buckeyes pulling the trigger here allows them to create a bond for the long haul, and Bowen has been pretty flawless in that light. Thinking what he could become with a full three more years to develop his game and physically, it’s easy to see why the coaching staff is wanting to get involved.
A player that is sure to see continued interest in his services, it doesn’t matter how young Ghea is, he will be pursued heavily for the foreseeable future, and that now includes Ohio State.
Quick Hits:
This weekend being a home game allows for the Buckeyes to host multiple recruits. Sure to have more names added as the game nears, Wednesday saw class of 2028 defensive back Kaleb Woseley share his visit plans.
A 6-foot, 160 pound cornerback out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Woseley is not currently ranked via his 247Sports profile, but does have offers from the likes of Florida State, Maryland, and Penn State to his name. A trip to see the Buckeyes now in the works, Ohio State will keep close tabs on this one as they set their sights in on cornerbacks for his class.
In addition to Woseley, Ohio State will also play host to New Jersey native, Xavier Fowlkes. A class of 2029 offensive line prospect, Fowlkes has yet to his the recruiting sites, but an impressive 6-foot-4, 300 pound frame as just a high school freshman should change that in the near future.
Visit to programs such as Ohio State certainly don’t hurt either, and with the Buckeyes have a strong recruiting presence in New Jersey, this visit likely won’t be the last for Xavier.
