You all know the story by now. Bayern Munich was on the verge of sealing a loan move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson — nabbing the three-year starter to back up Harry Kane this season. Then an injury to one of Jackson’s replacements for the Blues, Liam Delap, caused this parent club to reverse course and cancel authorization for the move, all while Jackson was already en route to Munich for his medical.
It’s over, or is it? Jackson is said to be furious about the situation, and his agents are
reportedly remaining in Munich to attempt to hammer out a solution in the final hours of the summer transfer window.
From Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:
Unless something extraordinary happens, Agent Ali Barat and Nicolas Jackson will also stay in Munich this evening. The saga will be decided on Deadline Day. Bayern with Eberl/Dreesen, Barat and Chelsea are discussing the potential deal structure. The deal is still on hold but not off. In parallel, Bayern are holding negotiations with Atalanta/Lookman [@Plettigoal]
Plettenberg then checked in and solidified his claim — the deal is off:
🚨❌ Excl | Nicolas #Jackson to FC Bayern – deal now 100% OFF. Decision made a few minutes ago. Bayern have officially pulled out. Jackson and Ali Barat will fly back to England. #CFC
Bayern’s alternative — Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman — is looking like a fruitless pursuit as well; it appears another case of a player looking for a way out of his current club and no current opportunity to take.
Can Bayern sweeten the deal with cash or a buy obligation for Chelsea to turn around and greenlight the Jackson move after all — or is Plettenberg’s latest report the final nail in the coffin for the deal? At this late hour, it is not as if Chelsea will bring in another player and become open to making a deal with Bayern Munich for Jackson, though it looks like at least one person is not giving up:
Never a dull moment, eh?
