A new report claims to clarify Big E’s status in WWE following the recent shocking release of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of The New Day.
Big E was part of The New Day until he suffered a major neck injury in 2022. After years of speculation about his future due to the injury, he eventually made his retirement from the ring official in February 2026 on the advice of his doctors.
Even before his announced retirement, Big E had transitioned into a broadcasting role for WWE. The charismatic strong
man quickly became a fan favorite with his insightful and often humorous takes on wrestling angles, and his supporters have reason to celebrate if a new report is accurate.
Per WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, Big E will remain with WWE, continuing on with his work as an analyst on PLE panels and post-show coverage. However, the report did not indicate how much time is believed to be left on his current contract.
On May 2, news broke that Woods and Kingston had mutually agreed with WWE to part ways. The move was a huge surprise to many, given that the stable became one of the most successful and popular teams in WWE history after forming more than a decade ago.
Later reports claimed the duo had signed new days with the company, but then TKO had asked them to restructure their contracts with a pay cut. Kofi and Xavier reportedly refused to these terms and were then granted their release.
Kingston and Woods later released statements that reflected on their success in WWE while looking forward to new opportunities. Both men also included mentions of their close ties with Big E in their statements.
“Most people go through life without ever experiencing a love like I have for Woods and E,” Kingston wrote, in part. “That bond alone would have made this whole experience worth it.”
Woods in his message said: “The New Day gave me a bond with @TrueKofi and @WWEBigE that I’ll cherish for life. You believed in us, even when our ideas were wild, and because of that, we got to show people that being unapologetically yourself is a strength.”
What do you think about his report on Big E, Cagesiders? Would you like to see him eventually rejoin Woods and Kingston (even if it’s just in a managerial role)? Let us know in the comments.
