Since joining Bayern Munich in 2022, Jonathan Asp Jensen has gone from strength to strength. He excelled as part of the U-19s and the U-23s, leading to a loan move to Red&Gold partner club Grasshopper Zürich. There, he was given the #10 shirt and played a critical role in dragging the team through a poor season and helping them avoid relegation. During this time, the Dane accumulated 9 goals and 6 assists, many of which were the results of spectacular individual effort.
Still, there is no space for
Asp Jensen back at Bayern. With his market value rising and clubs from multiple countries registering their interest, the time is good to get value for the player. Bild reports (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) that this is exactly what the club will do:
Jonathan Asp Jensen will not be returning to Bayern this summer after he was told by the club that he’s not in their plans. The Dane is now looking for a permanent transfer away from Munich. Thanks to his successful loan spell at Grasshopper Club Zürich, Asp Jensen has attracted interest from numerous clubs in the Bundesliga, as well as from France and Portugal. Bayern can expect a decent fee, since his market value has risen to €4m. Bayern could also secure a buy-back option or a sell-on clause in the event of a sale.
BFW Analysis
It is important Bayern secure a buy-back clause of some kind. Asp Jensen has shown real ability and mental fortitude in every step of his career and that is the kind of player that can still become useful for Bayern. Besides, he qualifies as homegrown. Perhaps there is no space in the squad for him now, but who knows how the squad will look like in a few years’ time?
