The search to revitalize Manchester United’s midfield continues with another name dropped into the rumor mill this week. Borussia Dortmund and Germany midfielder Felix Nmecha was linked with a move to United on Wednesday by Sky Sports Germany reporter Patrick Berger.
There were claims that United would have to compete with interest from Premier League rivals Manchester City and Liverpool along with potential interest from La Liga, and that’s before considering what sort of fee Dortmund would accept
to sell one of its top players.
Nmecha, 25, joined Dortmund in 2023 from VFL Wolfsburg, where he made 46 Bundesliga appearancs in two seasons. He is a product of Manchester City’s academy, and there is some familiarity with his talents from both club executive Omar Berrada and Director of Recruitment Christopher Vivell, who worked as a scout and youth director in Germany and Austria for more than a decade before moving to the Premier League.
Nmecha was selected to the German national team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and featured in the team’s group stage action, scoring a goal in a 7-1 win over Curacao.
