Spain are safely into the quarter-finals of World Cup 2026 after a narrow 1-0 win over Portugal on Monday in Dallas.
Luis de la Fuente’s side left it late to progress, needing a stoppage-time goal from substitute Mikel Merino to progress to the last eight.
Spain now go on to play either USA or Belgium in the quarter-finals on Friday, July 10th at 9pm CET in Los Angeles.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side face Belgium in their Round of 16 later today. The game has been overshadowed by FIFA’s decision to suspend
a one-game ban for Folarin Balogun for the game. Belgium are furious with the decision.
