Bayern Munich’s executive team is making it very clear — the club feels that star striker Harry Kane deserves the Ballon d’Or. Three of the members of that group spoke to Sport Bild’s Christian Falk (via @iMiaSanMia) and pushed for their guy to win the trophy:
Max Eberl: “He has more than earned the Ballon d’Or. Anyone who loves football loves characters like Harry Kane. Harry Kane scores like a No. 9, thinks like a No. 10 and works like a No. 6. Much like Gerd Müller in the past, he seems to have
a fraction more time in every situation. He is a phenomenon, a leader, a strong personality, and for many years now he has proven just how exceptional he is”
Herbert Hainer: “When young strikers are described in a few years’ time, they will be compared to Harry Kane. He represents the next level of an entire generation of strikers, and as a person, he also shows that professionalism and humility are not mutually exclusive. Harry Kane embodies the idea that sporting greatness is incomplete without greatness of character. He would be a worthy Ballon d’Or winner”
Jan-Christian Dreesen: “One thing is clear: when it comes to the biggest individual awards this year, you cannot overlook Harry Kane. Harry is a global superstar without any airs and graces, and one of the best strikers of the 21st century. He is a role model and the prototype of the modern professional footballer. Gerd Müller, Franz Beckenbauer and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge won the Ballon d’Or in their own unique ways by leaving their mark on the game. For me, Harry Kane belongs in exactly that company.”
Kane deserves the award, but deserving it and winning it are two totally different things. It is great to see Bayern Munich’s executives attempt to start the push.
