The Orange did it; according to Pete Thamel, they have reportedly hired Gerry McNamara to be the next head coach of the men’s basketball program. And even though the Orange were not playing in the NCAA Tournament, this was a decision that shook the college basketball world.

Hughes, Cole Swider, Joe Girard and
Plenty of media members chimed in as the news was breaking.
Adam Schein:
Schein was a voice who spoke frequently during the Coach Autry era, expressing his displeasure with the results Coach Autry was producing and saying that a change was needed.
And it appears that he was extremely happy with the change that was made, not only showcasing his excitement, but also saying that this would be a tough time not to support this team.

This message may seem a bit cryptic, but it tells the entire story. Could this hire bring the former courtside seat holder back into the program? If he commits to supporting NIL, this could take Syracuse basketball to a level it has not seen in some time.
It’s safe to say that people are excited about this hire, and want to see Coach McNamara succeed. However, outside of just wanting to see him succeed, they also believe that he will.
Whether it be a former player, a donor, or members of the media, there is hype about bringing the former guard from the 2003 championship team back to the Dome to lead the team.
